Fibromyalgia might be more fun if daily life could cut us some slack – if we all just stayed in bed eating M&M-laced popcorn and catching up on the Netflix queue. But floors need cleaning, bills need paying, and you (and your family) need feeding. All these things take time, strength and energy, which are often in short supply. So how to manage?
Let’s figure it out together. The Practical Fibromite is dedicated to developing and sharing sensible and realistic methods for making everyday tasks easier to handle despite fibromyalgia. We adapt beloved family recipes to make them less arduous for a struggling fibromite to prepare, but we also create and share our own recipes – ones that are simple, fast, and delicious (and sometimes healthy, too!). On the non-food side, we share easier ways to clean and maintain homes and gardens, tend to family and friends, and care for ourselves. After all, the less time and energy we spend on the things we have to do, the more we have to spend with the people we love.
For the most part, we’ll assume that you are wholly responsible for household duties, because many fibromites don’t have readily available help. [If you can delegate, that's great!] We also assume that you don’t have much disposable income to put towards managing daily life – again, because many of us don’t. [And if you do, hurray!]
We need your participation! Every one of us has great ideas to share with the world. Send in your suggestions, both for daily life and for improving our offerings, and we’ll always give you credit (unless you prefer anonymity, of course). We love interacting with you!
Please check in with us regularly. We’ll post a daily “Today’s Top Tip” (on non-holiday weekdays) and will regularly add new information and recipes to the site. You can also join the conversation on Twitter and Facebook.
IMPORTANT: We aren’t healthcare professionals, so always be sure to talk with appropriate medical personnel before changing your diet and lifestyle.
Thanks for your support!
